All students in grades 1-12 will begin on August 18, kindergarten students will begin on August 20.

OCHS has had an orientation program for many years; however, in 2009, the staff agreed that there was a need for a curriculum and began exploring options. The Discovery Program was designed in 1990 by Eric Larsen, an alternative high school teacher in Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado. The program teaches positive social skills, management strategies, and culture development. For more information visit discoveryinstitute.com.
At OCHS, Discovery is a two-quarter class, as well as our school's cultural model. We learn the skills of Discovery in the class, and we are expected to use these skills throughout our time at OCHS, and hopefully throughout life. Learning the skills of Discovery is really a lifelong process, and so we (staff and students) must always be open to feedback and change. After taking Discovery class, many students say that every student should take Discovery!
