Dear SVVSD Parents and Guardians:

Each year, our community experiences severe weather events that may result in the closure or delay of our schools.

St. Vrain invites community to review instructional programs

St. Vrain Valley Schools invites the public to review and provide feedback regarding the selection of a pilot program for the 2017-2018 school year in the areas of elementary school mathematics and high school social studies.

The committee has narrowed down the choices of instructional programs and would like the community to help make the decision on which program to pilot.  Each review will take place in the lobby of the Learning Services Center, 401 S. Pratt Pkwy. on the following dates:

St. Vrain’s Senior Volunteer Program Enters Fifth Year

The St. Vrain Valley Schools’ Senior Volunteer Program is once again available for the 2016-2017 school year. The program began in November 2012 to welcome seniors and individuals with disabilities into our schools and provide them financial assistance with their county property taxes. Up to 200 participants will be paid a maximum of 40 hours at $8.50 per hour for a total of $340 between January 2, 2017 and April 30, 2017.

Voters Approve St. Vrain Bond Issue

St. Vrain Valley's $260.3 million bond issue was passing easily, with 59 percent voting yes to 41 percent voting no, based on preliminary results from Boulder, Weld, Larimer and Broomfield counties.

"You've got to give credit to an entire community that came together and once again said education matters," said St. Vrain Valley Superintendent Don Haddad. "The only thing I can say is a big thank you."

St. Vrain Valley School District program wins 'One in a Melon' award

In business attire and high heels, Angela Tagtow, a high-ranking government official from Washington, D.C., is not your typical substitute teacher, but kindergartners in her nutrition mini-class at Flagstaff Academy didn't seem to notice.

As executive director of the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion at the United States Department of Agriculture, Tagtow oversees federal dietary guidelines, including the iconic food pyramid that was replaced in 2010 by the "MyPlate" icon for healthy eating.
